Picnic in the Park 2026
PRESS RELEASE
17th August 2026
Picnic in the Park 2026 returns to Burnaby Park for Greystones’ end-of-summer celebration
Greystones’ much-loved summer tradition returns on Saturday 29th August, when Picnic in the Park takes over Burnaby Park from 12pm to 5pm. Now one of the highlights of the town’s calendar, the event brings families, friends, neighbours and visitors together for an afternoon of live entertainment, fun and community spirit.
Picnic in the Park 2026 is brought to you by Greystones Town Team and Wicklow County Council, proudly sponsored by Codling Wind Park, with Core Credit Union as Community Partner.
The idea is simple: bring a picnic, gather your people and enjoy the day. Visitors are encouraged to pack a basket at home or support local by picking up lunch or treats from the cafés, delis and food outlets along Church Road and Main Street on the way to Burnaby Park. #ShopLocalLoveLocal
An event for everyone
For the second-year running, Picnic in the Park will host a dedicated Sensory Area, delivered in partnership with Greystones Autism Friendly Town. Designed for children and adults with additional needs, the space will run a silent disco throughout the day for those who want the festival atmosphere in a calmer setting. Places are limited, so registration is essential. To register, please email accessiblegreystones@gmail.com.
Dani Burns, Chairperson of Greystones Autism Friendly Town, said: “The Sensory Area provides a calm and welcoming space for children and adults with sensory needs to enjoy Picnic in the Park at their own pace. It is about making the event accessible and inclusive for everyone, so that every family can feel comfortable coming along and enjoying the day together.”
Entertainment throughout the afternoon
The line-up runs across several areas of the park:
· Joe the Magician, as seen on RTÉ
· Live music from Ellisha Taylor and Canadh le Chéile, with local band The Wolly Jumpers closing the day
· High-energy displays from Greystones Taekwondo, led by Master Wheatley, and a Zumba class with Audrey Bradshaw
· A colourful performance by Moving Skirts
· The Free to be Me Dance Group
· Children’s entertainment from Kids Club Ireland, including face painting, balloon artists and a live reptile show!
